For the best overall conditioning, there are three types of activity you should include in your exercise plans:
1. Aerobic — This type of exercise uses the large muscles of the body in continuous, rhythmical, sustained movement and can help increase endurance. Examples: cycling, walking, swimming.
2. Flexibility — Flexibility refers to the range that your joints and muscles can move, and can be achieved through stretching, both before and after exercise. Increasing your flexibility can also decrease your risk of injury.
3. Strength — Strength is how much a muscle can safely lift. Resistance training with weights is one way to increase your strength.
* Before embarking on this exercise program, please consult your family physician.
